Africa LEAD Project for funding in 2026 …
In October 2025 David and Donna took up the leadership of a new initiative in AGWM Africa called Africa LEAD.
– AGWM Global is launching one of its most aggressive visions in recent history. In the next several years, Africa will receive about 400 additional of the sons and daughters of our fellowship, churches, and networks to engage global service.
– Africa LEAD is committed to the training, coaching, and resourcing of every team leader to ensure that every global worker serves in a healthy and effective team.
– Africa LEAD is committed to building a leadership development pipeline to assure we have the leadership structure into which to onboard the workers we will receive the next several years and beyond.

David and Donna work with an urban church planting initiative planting churches in the gateway urban centers of Africa.

God directed us to take what He has invested in us over the past 3 decades, and embrace our calling to lift, equip, and resource multiplying leaders across the continent of Africa. We will do this in two ways…
Urban church planting through Urban Tribes. Africa is urbanizing at an astonishing rate. Urban Tribes is a continental initiative to plant churches in every major urban center in Africa. We work with church launch teams by lifting, resourcing, equipping and prayerfully strategizing with them to plant, develop and grow effective disciple-making, missionary-sending churches in Africa’s urban centers.
We serve Africa’s leaders by facilitating, raising up, and resourcing our missionary teams and leaders across the continent in the effective and healthy fulfillment of their vision and calling.
When we each lost our spouse about 12 years ago, long before we knew each other, we individually began the most difficult journey of our lives. We were each in a season of life where most people put roots deep and finish strong. For us, we began part 2 of our lives. We could not have known the challenges or the joys of the journey, and you can learn more about our story on our about us page, but its a new day which requires a new adventure and mission.
We are thankful for those things behind, but that which has happened to us has really served to advance the gospel… (Philippians [1:12]).
The difficult things that happen to all of us cost too much to waste, so for us, as we came to a place of wholeness we learned to trust God in new ways. This trust led us to a new mission and a new calling that would not have come unless the difficult things came first.

081 – Living Joyfully Through Embracing Humility
Living a joyful life requires learning to embrace humility, considering others above ourselves, and embracing God’s mission for our lives as our definition of success. Making a commitment to live joyfully does not mean that you feel joy all the time, or life becomes this wonderful ever-joy-filled journey. It is a determination to find the paths and ways of joyful living, applying them, and experiencing a joyful life prompted by who we are and our choices. In this episode we continue to discuss the path of joy as revealed in the New Testament book of Philippians.
080 – Having Joy in Difficult Circumstances
Can we have joy in difficult circumstances? Our attitudes, our motivation, and our purpose for living will help us press through the difficult things in our lives and experience joy. It is a journey, it may not happen overnight, but when we consistently choose the right attitude and live with the right motivations, we will experience and live joy, even through the tough stuff.
079 – Making the Most of Time and Taking a “Long-Play” Attitude
Quick wins are important, focusing on urgent projects is necessary, but to accomplish deep things, things of eternal significance, we’ve got to take a long view of things. We’ve all been given the same amount of time, but we can trust God to manage time according to his agenda. When we place all of our energy on the things we can accomplish over the short-term, we miss the value of the long-play.
In this episode we discuss how God is the master of time and we’ve got to be willing to take on things that will take a long time to build. To see transformation, to build an enduring work, and to fulfill our mission, we’ve got to take a long-view.
Our Mission: Africa’s Need
The greatest challenge for missions on the continent of Africa is raising up and equipping multiplying leaders.
- The population of Africa is just over 1.2 billion people. Those spiritually lost: 846 million.
- Africa has 867 unreached people groups… we’ve only engaged 34 of those groups.
- In just 20 years, we’ve grown from 2.1 million constituents to 22.6 million.
- Africa is the fastest urbanizing region in the world. By 2030 Africa will be 60% urban.
The Greatest Need
The church is growing at such an unprecedented rate, the continent is rapidly urbanizing, there are over 800 unreached people groups not yet engaged… we must have multiplying leaders.
Discipleship is relationship intensive. Raising up, training, and releasing multiplying leaders is essential. This is not the work of one exceptional person or of a few, this is a generational work requiring a network of thousands. This is about networking, this is about missionaries raising up and sending out missionaries. This is about urban church plants reaching and sending to remote and closed parts of the continent.
We will invest what’s been invested in us. We will seek others who will do the same… For Christ… and for Africa!
